One of/the best for gaming right now

Excellent for gaming rig! Probably the best if not top 3 for sure processors out. Paired with a 50 series( especially the 80)plenty of power to keep a rig going for a couple few years.

This is not a great CPU.

When installed on a brand new rig this CPU took almost 10 minutes to post to BIOS, and it kinda freaked me out, that's when I started to think this build was a mistake. When it did post after I left the room and started questioning my build skills it ran normally. Setting up the OS was okay, but my fans were constantly ramping up. After installing SignalRGB Pro, I set my fan curves and thought the issue was taken care of. Every time I opened a new Youtube video or started doing any task like moving files my cooler fans would get to work. I started monitoring the temps and every time I would do a minute task the core temp would spike to70C and trigger cooler fans. I checked my CPU installation and everything was fine, plenty of paste and good mating contact. The cooler is a Be Quiet Darkrock Elite and I've never had an issue with. I knew it was the CPU, checked with a friend to get a second opinion, and ordered a 9800X3D to replace it. The 98 is an absolute destroyer! Once I dropped it in everything was perf, I didn't have to update any settings, I just put it in and turned it on. My fans don't make a peep now unless I seriously tax the system with a mega modded Skyrim, the kind of game that melts any average rig. Do yourself a favor, spend the few extra bucks and get the 9800X3D and pair it with a 5080, the prices are fair right now, stay away from this CPU, its hot, and won't last 5 years before it fries itself.
